Dear Copperfield Community Association Members,
The November meeting was held at the Jefferson Ruritan Club and the following business occurred:
The 2022 budget was passed with an increase in dues to $425.00 annually. With the higher cost of services, additional mowing, and other budgetary items this increase was unavoidable.
Wesley Tibbs and Mark Crissman left the Board, and Maggie Adams and John Corgan joined. Your 2022 CCA Board Members are: Dwight Barry, Jeff Hainline, Jennifer Hansen, Tim Deely, Jenna Destefano, John Corgan, and Maggie Adams.
A new website www.copperfieldmd.com. has been launched and will soon become the official media for CCA communication. We hope to keep this up to date and timely with what’s going on in our neighborhood. If you have neighborhood news, events, or information in general please contact a board member to get the info on the site.
PARK / POND UPDATE
As most of you know by now Frederick Co. has re-built our storm water management pond. If some of you are unaware the pond is not Frederick Co. property, the pond is owned by CCA. It is ours and we are responsible for the cost of its maintenance and upkeep. We encourage you to use the new reclaimed space but ask that you keep in mind the following rule and regulation in Section 4.
In the event of damage or destruction to a common area or the Storm Water Management Area, require the responsible Member to either personally repair such damage or pay for repairs. If emergency repairs were necessary and made in accordance with Section 3 of this Article, the responsible Member shall be required to reimburse the Association for any costs associated with those repairs (the option of the Member personally effecting the repairs is forgone).
The pond is in two sections, the forebay and the sand filter. The sand filter is in the bowl of the larger section, it has the white PVC pipe vents sticking out of the ground. Examples of replacement and repairs in this area are PVC vents at $10,000.00 each, and the sand filter is $100,000.00. Dog walking and foot traffic around the perimeter berm are fine, as is entering to retrieve a frisbee, ball, or run-away pet. However, the bowl is not a playground. It’s recommended no playing or any activity in this area, and for your safety please stay off the gabion (rock wall) and concrete riser.
The forebay is more tolerant of activity but limit it to activities that will not change the elevations, contours, and flow of storm water. Bicycle riding is prohibited in and around the pond. It’s your space, use it, enjoy it, but be a good steward.
Below is an image of the pond with the sand filter section circled. This is the area of concern and activity there should be avoided.
Respectfully,
CCA BOD
